Travel is the best teacher, and for someone like me who didn’t formerly study design, the places I visit inspire my creative process. Meeting new people, visiting new locals; the energy and the excitement I witness helps in creating the best mood boards in the making of a couture collection. The First time I visited Kashmir was in 2010 and I was amazed by its breathtaking beauty. The landscape – the majestic mountains, the serene lakes and valleys brimming with flowers have been an inspiration for some of my designs. Apart from its scenic beauty, Kashmir is known for its intricate embroidery techniques and detailing. Be it Sozni, Resham or Tilla, each technique is a lesson in meticulousness and proof of the wonderful crafts and craftsmanship found in India. It has been a wonderful journey for me to imbibe this work in my collection and to be able to showcase the handcrafted legacy.
